A Vedic marriage muhurat is never one lucky date — it is a stack of conditions that must hold at the same moment. The tithi should be one of the seven the texts favour for vivah (Dvitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Saptami, Dashami, Ekadashi and Trayodashi), the Moon should sit in one of the eleven classical marriage stars, and the lagna rising at the hour of the pheras should be clean of malefic aspect. Two of those eleven stars are worth naming because they break the usual rule: Magha and Mula are barred for almost every other beginning, yet the marriage texts reclaim them outright. Rohini, Mrigashira, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati complete the list.
The gaps matter as much as the dates. Weddings pause during Kharmas — the Sun's transit of Sagittarius from roughly mid-December to mid-January — and again while the Sun crosses Pisces, and they stop entirely whenever Venus or Jupiter is combust (Shukra asta and Guru asta), because the two grahas that govern union and blessing are then invisible. Those exclusions are why India's wedding season bunches into November, and again from late January through June. Our table below already removes every one of those barred stretches; what it cannot remove is a conflict with the couple's own charts.

Frequently asked questions
Why are there no marriage dates from mid-December to mid-January?
That stretch is Kharmas (Malmas in the north) — the Sun transiting Sagittarius, Jupiter's own sign. With the Sun sitting on the guru of auspicious beginnings, tradition pauses weddings, griha pravesh and the other major samskaras until Makar Sankranti, when the Sun enters Capricorn and the season reopens. The same pause repeats, more briefly, while the Sun crosses Pisces.
What is Shukra asta, and why does it cancel a wedding date that otherwise looks perfect?
Shukra asta is the period when Venus is too close to the Sun to be seen at dawn or dusk — heliacally set, or "combust". Venus is the karaka of marriage itself, so the texts treat an invisible Venus as an absent blessing regardless of how good the tithi and nakshatra are. Guru asta, the same condition for Jupiter, carries the same veto. Both can last several weeks and both are computed, not guessed.
Is a date rated Excellent here good for every couple?
No. These dates clear the general panchang tests only. The bride's and groom's Moon signs, their running dashas, Manglik considerations and the strength of the seventh house can each veto a date that looks flawless on a calendar, or rescue one that is merely Good. That personal layer is the whole point of running a shortlisted date against both birth charts.

Tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana are read at sunrise in New Delhi from a Lahiri sidereal ephemeris; the Sun's sidereal sign drives the solar-month exclusions and the Sun–Venus and Sun–Jupiter separations drive the asta (combustion) bars.
The tests are Marriage's own, listed in full on the Marriage hub: 11 of the twenty-seven nakshatras carry its star bonus, 7 of the fifteen tithis its tithi bonus, and 4 weekday lords its weekday bonus.
