SubhMuhurat — auspicious timings, computed

A muhurat is the timing of a specific act, and the classical tests for one act genuinely disagree with the tests for another. This site therefore publishes 20 occasions rather than a single calendar of good days, states the rules it applies before it shows a date, and says plainly where a calendar stops and a birth chart has to take over.

What is here

Four things, and they answer four different questions. The occasion pages answer "which days in 2026 or 2027 survive the classical bars for a marriage, a griha pravesh, a shop opening, a surgery" — one page per rite, each with the tithis, nakshatras, weekday lords and hard exclusions written out in prose above the table. The guides answer "how does this mechanism actually work", one mechanism at a time, with the classical reference tables reproduced in full so you can check them against your family almanac. The per-city pages answer "what are today's windows where I am standing": Rahu Kaal and Choghadiya computed for each of 30 cities from that city's own sunrise, not from Delhi's. And today is the whole reading for the reference city on one page.

Today, at New Delhi

Nothing on this site is a stored table, so here is the engine running rather than described. On 31 July 2026 — a Friday — the Sun clears the New Delhi horizon at 05:42 and sets at 19:13, giving 811 minutes of daylight. The five limbs standing at that sunrise read Krishna Dvitiya, Dhanishta, Saubhagya yoga and Taitila karana. Every kaal is one eighth of that daylight span, which today is 101 minutes rather than the ninety a printed template assumes, so Rahu Kaal falls between 10:46 and 12:28, and the first favourable day Choghadiya is Chal from 05:42. Tomorrow those numbers are different, and the site is rebuilt to match.

Why the occasion comes first

The same star that makes a morning excellent for buying gold can make it wrong for a wedding, and the sharp nakshatras this site bars from almost every beginning are the correct ones for a surgeon's knife. A calendar of undifferentiated "shubh din" hides that disagreement; an occasion page has to face it, because the rules it prints are the rules it is being judged on. That is also why the tables can be empty: when a rite's barred solar months, combustion windows and nakshatra rules close a stretch of the year, the page says the year is closed rather than lowering the bar to fill a table.

These are panchang-shortlisted dates, not a personal verdict. Each date below clears the classical tithi, vara, nakshatra, yoga and karana tests for this occasion, computed with a Lahiri sidereal ephemeris at New Delhi sunrise. The lagna rising at the hour you actually choose, your own birth chart (Chandra bala, running dasha, any dosha) and the day’s Rahu Kaal are NOT checked here — that layer only exists once a date is run against a real chart on the muhurat finder or with Soma.

Where the calendar stops

Half of a real muhurat cannot be computed from a date at all. The lagna rising at the hour you actually choose, your own Moon's strength on that day, the dasha you are running and any dosha in the chart are what decide between two dates a calendar has already approved — and none of them are knowable from a calendar. This site does the first half honestly and hands over the second, which is what the method page is for.
