Annaprashan Muhurat Dates 2026 — month by month अन्नप्राशन

Every annaprashan date in 2026 that clears the classical panchang tests — 27 in total, grouped by month. The rules being applied, and the reasoning behind them, are set out on the Annaprashan muhurat hub.

Annaprashana is the first feeding of solid food, and the classical rule about it is one of the few in the whole muhurat corpus that depends on the child's sex. Boys are fed in an even month of life — the sixth is the standard — and girls in an odd month, the fifth or the seventh. The rite is not performed before the child has begun teething, and it is not performed in the month of birth. Within the chosen month the panchang tests are gentle: a waxing tithi outside the Rikta group, a light or soft nakshatra, and a day ruled by the Moon, Mercury, Jupiter or Venus.

Scanned 365 days of 2026 at New Delhi sunrise · 27 clear every classical bar for this occasion.

These are panchang-shortlisted dates, not a personal verdict. Each date below clears the classical tithi, vara, nakshatra, yoga and karana tests for this occasion, computed with a Lahiri sidereal ephemeris at New Delhi sunrise. The lagna rising at the hour you actually choose, your own birth chart (Chandra bala, running dasha, any dosha) and the day’s Rahu Kaal are NOT checked here — that layer only exists once a date is run against a real chart on the muhurat finder or with Soma.

No qualifying date falls in November, December — those months are closed for this occasion by the bars described above, not by a shortage of candidates.

What 2026 actually looks like for annaprashan

The 365-day scan of 2026 produces 27 dates for annaprashan — 15 rated Excellent and 12 rated Good — spread across 10 of the twelve months. The first falls on 1 January 2026 (Shukla Trayodashi, Rohini) and the last on 12 October 2026 (Shukla Dvitiya, Swati). 2027 yields 28, so 2026 is the less open of the two by 1 date. The difference is not preference: it is where that year's barred solar months, combustion windows and lunar boundaries happen to fall.

September is the richest month of 2026 for this act with 5 dates, and February the thinnest open month with 1. 2 months of this year — Nov, Dec — carry no qualifying date at all, and the table below names the bar that was doing most of the work in each.

This occasion carries no solar-month bar and no combustion bar, so nothing closes a whole season of 2026 at once. What thins the list instead is the day-level tests, whose 2026 tally is in the table below.

The longest run of 2026 with no qualifying date in it is 80 days, from 12 October 2026 to 31 December 2026. If your own window falls inside it, the honest answer is that this year has nothing to offer there and the adjacent year is the place to look.

Which stars and weekdays carried 2026's dates

The shortlist above is not spread evenly. These are the actual counts from 2026's own qualifying set — a different set from the adjacent year's, so a star that dominates one year can be almost absent in the next simply because of where the Moon's returns fall against the barred windows.

Stars carrying the most dates: Hasta (), Rohini (), Chitra (), Swati (), Revati (), and 7 more.

Weekdays: Thursday (), Wednesday (), Monday (), Sunday (), Friday ().

Tithis: Trayodashi (), Saptami (), Dvitiya (), Dashami (), Tritiya (), and 6 more.

11 of this act's 12 favoured stars carried at least one date in 2026. Shatabhisha carried none — they came round as usual, but every time they did, another test was already failing.

Why the other 338 days of 2026 did not make the list

Nothing above is a shortage of data: every rejected day was rejected by a named classical test, and in 2026 the single biggest was wrong fortnight, which alone accounted for 185 days — 50.7% of the year, ahead of barred nitya yoga on 37. The tests themselves are set out on the Annaprashan hub; the tally below is 2026's alone, because the bars sit on different dates each year.

Where 2026's annaprashan dates part company with the neighbouring rites

Adjacent rites share most of their classical tests, so their shortlists overlap; the same 365 sunrises were therefore scored a second time against each neighbour's own profile, and every difference below carries that rite's own reason.

Of the 3 rites compared, Namkaran's 2026 calendar sits furthest from this one — 63 days on which exactly one of the two is open — and Starting Education's closest, at 2. If one visit is to carry two of these rites, the shared column is where a day that serves both will be.

Can annaprashan and namkaran be combined?

They are separate samskaras with separate windows — naming falls around the eleventh day, first feeding around the fifth to seventh month — so they cannot genuinely share a date. Where a naming was delayed to the first birthday, some families perform both together at that point, which is a compression of convenience rather than a classical option.

Frequently asked questions about annaprashan in 2026

How many annaprashan dates are there in 2026?

27 — 15 rated Excellent and 12 rated Good, out of 365 days scored. They fall across 10 of the twelve months, the first on 1 January 2026 and the last on 12 October 2026. September is the richest single month with 5.

Why are boys and girls fed in different months?

The texts prescribe even months for boys and odd months for girls, and give no reason beyond the pattern itself — it belongs to the same even/odd logic that governs several other samskaras. In practice the sixth month for boys and the fifth or seventh for girls are what almost every family uses, and both fall inside the window paediatric guidance also points at.

Can the same 2026 date serve both annaprashan and namkaran?

Usually, but not always. Of the 90 namkaran dates in 2026, 27 are also on this page; 0 days are open for annaprashan and shut for namkaran, and 63 the other way round. 5 January 2026 is the reverse — good for namkaran, omitted here because Krishna paksha — this act is kept to the waxing fortnight. Both lists are scored from the same sunrises, so a date on both has cleared both sets of bars — what neither list can tell you is whether one day can carry two rites in your family's practice, which is a question for the priest conducting them.

How these annaprashan dates were computed

For 2026 specifically that meant scoring 365 sunrises and keeping 27 of them, with wrong fortnight doing the most work of any single bar — 185 days of 2026. The earliest date it left standing is 1 January 2026 and the latest 12 October 2026. Nothing dropped is left implicit: the reason for each rejection is named in the tally above.

Tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana are read at sunrise in New Delhi from a Lahiri sidereal ephemeris; the Sun's sidereal sign drives the solar-month exclusions and the Sun–Venus and Sun–Jupiter separations drive the asta (combustion) bars.

The tests are Annaprashan's own, listed in full on the Annaprashan hub: 12 of the twenty-seven nakshatras carry its star bonus, 8 of the fifteen tithis its tithi bonus, and 4 weekday lords its weekday bonus. Across 2026's 365 sunrises those three were met on 161, 195 and 209 days, and 27 days cleared every bar and still scored 6 or better. Beyond the bars every act on this site carries, annaprashan additionally rules out the waning fortnight outright and Tuesday and Saturday as weekdays. Where a family practice differs from what is written here, the family practice governs.
